The Montreal Police are investigating an attempted murder in Parc Extension and a later vehicle fire.
The two incidents which occurred between Friday night Sept. 11 and Saturday morning Sept. 12 are believed to be related.
Around 11 p.m. Friday, a 22-year-old man was shot in the upper body in an alley near Crémazie Boulevard in Parc Extension.
The victim was taken to the hospital, where his condition was not considered life-threatening.
The suspects fled before police arrived, and no arrests were immediately made. Several bullet impacts and spent shell casings were found at the scene.
In the second incident, less than an hour later around 11:45 p.m., a pickup truck was destroyed by fire on Chemin de l’Anse à l’Orme in Senneville near the western tip of Montreal Island.
Although no one was reported injured in either of the two incidents, firefighters found incendiary materials at the scene of the pickup truck fire.
As a result, the investigation has been turned over to the police department’s arson squad.
While the police had not made any arrests, they are investigating a possible link between this incident and the attempted murder that occurred earlier.
