This coming fall, residents of Parc extension will be able to enjoy a slew of cultural activities at the borough’s library.
This delightful offering starts with the Arteria exhibition which presents the work of three artists of Latin American origin: Claudia Gutierrez, denirée isabel and Sarabeth Triviño, as part of the 14th edition of the LatinArte Festival. With an innovative approach, these three artists explore textile art and the notion of the trajectory of living memory. Their works offer multiple meanings and sensitive experiences through the alliance of traditions and ancestral know-how with installation and digital art. The present manifests itself as a complex system of transmission, where memories, knowledge and stories circulate, to pierce the silence of time. In a timeless, human, poetic and sensitive space, the ancestral knowledge and memories of the peoples of the Americas are linked with contemporary imaginations, in order to present alternative narratives from emerging voices, strong and resilient, but also vulnerable in the face of a world sometimes dystopian. The exhibition opens on Wednesday, September 14 at 5:30 p.m. and a guided visit, accompanied by the curator will be done on Saturday, October 29th at 1:30 p.m.

If November has become cold, the Parc-Extension library takes you to Greece with guest lecturer Marc Laberge. This activity presented by the Parc-Extension library and the Un temps pour l’art cultural committee, at the Parc-Extension broadcast room (421, rue Saint-Roch) brings photographer, ethnologist and storyteller, Marc Laberge to Park-Ex. He has traveled the planet for 40 years. During this conference, he will put all his talents to work to offer a rich and captivating portrait of Greece, this country of legends with a thousand beauties, a mixture of East and West, with countless tourist attractions.
Finally for the Park-Ex youth the Parc-Extension Library will present on Sunday, October 16, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. The animals are hiding. This free workshop for kids ages 7 and up gives children an opportunity to learn how to use acetates to make graphic elements appear and disappear. They will then be invited to create their own illustrated poster of a bird hiding in its nest. To register call 514 872-6071 Craft
